Over the last couple of weeks I’ve visited CityWalk, Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios a couple of times. Here are some new and different things I noticed.
The first Lego brick models featuring the sites and monuments of Washington D.C. have been installed in the Miniland USA area of Legoland Florida. The park is scheduled to open in a few months on Oct. 15. Here’s a video of the installation with some insight by the Lego Model Project Manager.
Reigning Indianapolis 500 champion Dan Wheldon, his wife Susie and two-year-old son Sebastian, served as the grand marshals in the daily parade at the Magic Kingdom today.
Universal Orlando’s has released a free mobile app for Apple and Android phones, joining SeaWorld, which also released a free app earlier this year and Disney World, which offers a paid app for Verizon customers. Busch Gardens officials say their mobile app is in the works.

This June, MOSI, the Museum of Science & Industry in Tampa, will introduce a new Sky Trail Ropes Course, which features a 12- to 36-foot-high, multi level course with 36 different elements. The ropes course is designed for all ages and does not require a minimum number of people to participate to experience the course.
No one knew what to expect when the first D23 Expo was held in 2009. Most fans who attended left amazed and wondering when the next Expo would be held. Now, two years later, the second D23 Expo returns to the Anaheim Convention Center in California from Aug. 19 to 21, 2011.
