When it opens to the public on February 14, The American Idol Experience will take its inspiration from TV’s “American Idol” and invite park guests to take a shot at performing or take their place in a state-of-the-art theater and vote for their favorite singer. In the finale performance each day, the singer getting the most votes gets priority access to a regional audition for the TV show.

This will be one of the attractions at the Disney Parks I will not be going to. I have never watched an episode of American Idol and have no interest in it at all.

This is a horrible, horrible idea! I’m in Canada, and even here Idol fatigue has reached such a level that CTV, the network that creates Canadian Idol, has announced that they’re not showing Canadian Idol this year. Maybe next year, if anyone still cares. And now I hear there’s talk that Idol fatigue is being felt in the U.S. as well! Disney has spent millions of dollars on what could be cancelled by Fox in a year or two. I was working at a typical Idol audition up here and let me tell you for every singer that gets to move on, there are twenty that are crying and heart-broken that their dreams are shattered. Way to go, Disney managers, for bringing this misery to Hollywood Studios!
