Legoland Florida is inviting locals to the Winter Haven Orange Dome from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 8 to find out more about their plans for a new theme park.

The open house-style event is intended to acquaint local residents with Legoland Florida and how it will impact Central Florida. Guests will be able to view theme park concepts, ask questions and hear about job opportunities. Also on hand will be Lego models of Darth Vader, Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine. A miniature version of the White House – which will be the Florida park’s first permanent model – will also be on display. Other miniture buildings will include some from Las Vegas, California and Florida.

During the event, guests will have the unique opportunity to help build a giant Lego mural depicting the front entrance of Legoland Florida. When complete, the mural will be nine feet wide and five feet tall, created out of 35,000 Lego bricks.

Managing Director of Legoland Parks John Jakobsen, General Manager of Legoland Development John Ussher, Sales and Marketing Director Kim Isemann and Human Resources Director Kim Clark will be on hand to answer questions.

Legoland Florida will open in Fall 2011 at the former Cypress Gardens theme park in Winter Haven, Fla. The Orange Dome is at 150 Cypress Gardens Blvd. in Winter Haven.
