In 2010, Orlando welcomed more than 51 million visitors, up 10.5 percent from 2009. That makes the city officially the first destination in the country to top 50 million visitors. This announcement was made at simultaneous events, hosted by Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs and City of Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, along with Visit Orlando President and CEO Gary Sain.

According to Dyer, “These numbers are tremendous. For our region to continue its recovery, we need for our travel and tourism economy to lead the way. Today’s announcement is wonderful news and I am so proud of our travel and tourism partners for their success.”

To attract visitors throughout 2010, Visit Orlando utilized the taglines, “Orlando Makes Me Smile” and “Orlando: Where Inspiration Meets.” To learn more about Visit Orlando, visit their website.
