Hi Tim, I contacted Kings Island in regard to your question.

The ride you are referring to was called Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle. It was a laser shooting dark ride (like Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters or Men in Black Alien Attack in Orlando). In the past it was the Enchanted Voyage, Smurfs Enchanted Voyage and was similar to Small World. (We rode it to escape the heat when we were little – AC!).

The ride will continue to be a dark ride. No further details have been released, but you can expect and announcement around April 1.

What about the Scooby Doo Haunted House zapping the ghost with flashlight ride in the Mystery Machine. Have they rethemed it. Was it too expensive to retheme so it’s not opening. Reading pki website it does not list the ride anymore, neither a description of a rethemed ride with Snoopy slapped on it. This is my kids favorite ride and it matters to me. Plus it’s the only darkride in the park besides the old Tombraider. Anybody have some answers?

Bummer about the surf park. I’ve been following the idea since 2005. I live on the West Coast, but I was willing to fly out to try the wave in the park. Too bad the credit market dried up and no one is going to be able to get a loan to fund this kind of thing.

Good advice. No matter where you’re traveling, consider rain as a possibility, and plan in advance how you’ll deal with it. I’ll never forget our trip to Niagara Falls a couple of years ago. Our first day was wonderful, but the second, when we had lots of outdoor sightseeing planned, was miserable. We quickly spent a small fortune (well, not really a fortune, but more than we wanted to) on caps (because of wearing glasses) and ponchos. Ever since, we’ve tried to remember that rain can happen anywhere and anytime, so we must plan for it accordingly. It is a lot less frustrating if you know what you’re going to do ahead of time!
