Busch Gardens Williamsburg has announced a new virtual reality ride, set to make its debut in spring 2018: Battle for Eire – Action VR Ride.

This new VR attraction will feature a fairy warrior named Addie, as she leads riders on an adventure through her homeland of Ireland.

The ride will include other characters as they join Addie in a story for the whole family, as she sets out to rescue the Heart of Eire, which holds the magic of Ireland. However, she needs a little help, and that’s where the guests come in.

Nestled in the Ireland village of the Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Battle for Eire is set in a motion-based theater simulator with 360-degree VR headsets, creating an immersive experience. Riders will be able to see, hear and feel the story as it unfolds around them.

“We are taking guests on an incredible journey,” said Larry Giles, Vice President of Engineering. “The movement of the simulator combined with interactive special effects from the VR headsets will deliver an exciting, high-energy experience, with a great storyline.”

The opening of Battle for Eire will kick off 2018 for Busch Gardens. The ride will also include a standard version for guests interested in a non-VR experience.

“Battle for Eire will be the type of experience that only Busch Gardens can deliver,” said David Cromwell, Park President at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. “The combination of innovative VR headsets with our flight simulator will create an immersive, exciting environment for guests of all ages.”

  1. I love the idea of experiencing the magic of Ireland. Being able to do it from somewhere completely different is very intriguing. I’ll definitely be looking for this on my next visit!
