Sheriff Woody and Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl welcomed back everyone’s favorite Space Ranger of Star Command to Toy Story Land at Hong Kong Disneyland on Aug. 31, to commemorate the final mission of Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters.
Buzz joined in on the special moment to thank guests and salute cast members who have made magic at the attraction during its time of operation. The Space Ranger is now meeting guests in Toy Story Land daily.
Max Ho, a 12-year cast member and Toy Story fan, said, “I grew up with Toy Story movies and have loved them ever since I was a student. Whenever I saw young children who were nervous about going on the ride, I would tell them about the ride’s background story and encourage them to be brave like Buzz Lightyear.”
Queenie Hui, who joined the resort when it first opened in 2005, has been working at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters for 12 years. Sharing her sentiments on the attraction, Hui said, “Over the past 12 years, this ride has created lots of precious memories for me and our guests. It made my day ever time children told me they liked going on the ride over and over to get higher scores.”
Both Ho and Hui were sentimental about the closing of the attraction, but hopeful and looking forward to its upcoming transformation into a Marvel-themed ride. Upon the opening of this new Marvel attraction, more Marvel-themed experiences will follow, including a new Marvel-themed area that will open at Hong Kong Disneyland in the coming years.
