Celebrate Lunar New Year 2018 with Kung Fu Panda at Universal Studios Hollywood on Feb. 10-25
You can welcome the “Year of the Dog” with the help of a bear and a cat when DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda’s Po and Tigress lead Universal Universal Studios Hollywood’s expanded Lunar New Year event on Feb. 10-25.
Universal Studios Hollywood holds its newly enlarged Lunar New Year event celebrating the “Year of the Dog” from Saturday, Feb. 10 to Sunday, Feb. 25, 2018. Lunar New Year is included in the price of admission to Universal Studios Hollywood.
The Lunar New Year 2018 event will take place within Universal Plaza, a polygon-shaped piazza that sits at the heart of the theme park. Decorations include curtain of customary red Chinese lanterns, plum blossom Wishing Trees, and 12 zodiac animal signs accompanied by their symbolic attributes.
New to this year’s event, Universal Studios Hollywood will debut the all-new DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda Jade Palace Performance Stage and the Dragon Warrior Training Show based on the Kung Fu Panda franchise. The all-new Kung Fu Panda experience will engage guests of all ages in an interactive martial art demonstration performed by Master Po and friends. A replica of Mr. Ping’s Noodle Shop from Kung Fu Panda, including Mr. Ping himself, will serve Asian fare and a selection of hot and cold Asian beverages. The event will also feature veteran DreamWorks animators who will demonstrate practical techniques of drawing their favorite Kung Fu Panda characters as keepsake mementos.
Like last year’s Lunar New Year event, a Mandarin-speaking version of Transformer’s Megatron (the 12-foot-tall leader of the Decepticons) will return to engage guests in real-time Mandarin conversations. And for the first time, Illumination’s Minions from Universal Studios Hollywood’s Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride will be dressed in brightly colored traditional Lunar New Year attire.
