Hidden songs confirmed on Rip Ride Rockit coaster

dsc02020

dsc02010The newly open Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster at Universal Studios lets riders choose from 30 different songs to listen to during the ride. (Click here for the full list.) But there have been rumors online of up to 999 songs available by following specific unlisted instructions.

Yesterday we interviewed Louis Alfieri, the ride’s creative director, for an article in our upcoming Fall 2009 issue. When asked about the hidden tracks, he replied, with a big smile, “Rockit has the ability to offer layers of discovery that no other coaster has before.”

So with that answer, we had to try to access the hidden tracks ourselves, and it works! Here’s how to access the hidden tracks. But keep in mind that the hidden songs aren’t available for an on-ride video.

When you sit down, instead of selecting the songs listed, hold your finger on the Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit logo at the top of the screen for about five to 10 seconds. When you lift your finger, a number keypad should appear on the screen. Enter any three digit number from 001 to 999 and touch enter.

EDIT: It appears there aren’t 999 songs to choose from. If you enter a three digit number that doesn’t contain a bonus song, you’ll get the default song, Busy Child by The Crystal Method. Bryan reported below in the comments that the bonus tracks seem to be between these numbers: 101-132, 301-312, 501-508, 701-718, 901-904

Now all we need to do is figure out what numbers correspond to which songs. These haven’t been confirmed, but here’s what’s been reported so far:

  1. I find it highly ironic / suspicious that there are two Muppets songs on a ride at Universal. Still, that is a fun Easter Egg, and probably would warrant a few rides of the coaster, just to play around with that feature. And I hope, HOPE that choice #666 is “The Number of the Beast” by Iron Maiden. It’s only right.

  2. I went on today and found out that 306 is Eminem – Lose Yourself and that 312 is barry white – my everything

  3. 508 is a song called Pivot by a band called Dry. They’re a very unknown band from Orlando/Winter Park, FL. That’s my friend’s band and his dad works at the park so his band got on the ride.

  4. Alex, the consensus seems to be that people want to know about number 666. You’re not superstitious are you? 😉
Also try a low number under 030 to see if, in fact they are the official songs.

  5. Songs 100- 114 are hidden tracks. The ride broke down right as we were supposed to get off so we had time onplay aroud a bit. Song 436 and 950 are blank. One of the ride ops said back to the future is somewhere as well as the mountain song from fantasia

  6. Follow up: there are also 2 metallica songs in the 400’s and most of the ride ops seem to believe there are only 80 tracks hand picked by the designer scattered throughout all 999 selections. Good luck. I rode twice and both numbers were a miss

  7. I am a SRSLY big fan of metallica…. so if any1 finds out which number/numbers is/are metallica, then PLZ tell me.

  8. Interesting thought Chris – that there aren’t 999 songs, but just a few at random numbers. But could it be that if it was blank something just went wrong or it wasn’t entered correctly?

I tried #316 and it was a song I recognized, but I don’t know the name of it.

  9. “You’ll hear a click but no confirmation screen will come up. (At least it didn’t for me.)”

That’s because there’s not a bonus track for the number you entered.

After entering a valid bonus track number you’ll get the song screen

Across the top will say bonus track and then below will be the number you entered as well as the RRR logo.

316 is not a bonus track, what happened to you is that “Rave” just picked for you, which is busy child by the crystal method.

“and it seems types of songs are grouped together.”
Exactly. Any number in these ranges will yield a bonus track, enjoy!
    101-132,301-312,501-508,701-718,901-904

  10. Thanks for clearing that up Bryan. I’ll update the post with your information. But before I do, based on the numbers you provided, you’re saying there are only 74 different hidden or bonus songs?

  11. I know there are at least those 74 tracks. For there to be any others it would have to placed very randomly because I have yet to discover that a track exists outside those ranges.

Since these were mentioned in previous replies I’ll tell you that:

Night on Bald Mountain by Modest Mussorgsky is 904
and Cyanide by Metallica is 701

  12. Yea idk I went on 2day an they didn’t give me enough freakin’ time to make a selection >:(. Well I’ll try again in 2 years cuz thats when I might be coming back ;(. Btw I held it down 4 5 sec. and it didn’t work so I did 10 sec. and it worked… but it was 2 late. I couldn’t enter the # in time! Do you think 7 sec. would work? Btw should I tell other ppl bout this easter egg or should this be kept a secret?

  13. I rode it yesterday and didn’t have time to select a song. Does anyone know if Crazy Train is one of the hidden tracks? Imagine; You’re going up the 90-degree hill and hear, “ALL ABOARD!!!!! Ha ha ha ha ha!”

  14. Just rode it again and tried out the hidden songs. I am a huge Metallica fan and tried 702 to figure out what it is. Just so you know 702 is NOT a Metallica song. I don’t know what it is, but it’s definitely not Metallica. Hidden songs are very easy to access and I look forward to listening to more.

  15. I’m planning on going to the park tomorrow all day and ride RRR to confirm songs. I have a song identifier so all the mystery songs and their corresponding numbers will be posted to here on Friday. If there are any special requests for numbers to be tried or identified let me know. I’ll check here before I go to the park tomorrow.

  16. I Rode Rip Ride Rockit today i put in Number 666 and i got Nothing but after i got off the Train Before me got Stuck in the Lift For 1 Hour so idk it may be Counsidence?

  17. I confirmed two songs today
    102-Drivin’ Rain by Gov’t Mule
    708-Let’s Go by Ministry

Let’s Go is actually a very fun song to ride it to.

  18. Heyya, all of the hidden tracks are listed on an iPhone/iPodtouch app called Pocket Rockit. 59p it’s brilliant. Thanks guys 😀

  19. Thanks Luke for mentioning the App! We’ve seen a lot of sales from the UK and we want to thank all of our friends from across the Atlantic. It’s true. The App is available on the iTunes store and has all of the currently known songs listed. Any new songs get put on the database and with liveupdate technology, are downloaded to your iPhone/iPod touch device when you sync. Check it out. If you’re coming for a holiday and are planning to ride this amazing coaster, this app is definitely for you!

  20. # 111 I know I heard it before its not an unknown guitar solo like most lists have, I’m 99% sure its called “Speed of Light” by BT it’s on the More Fast and the Furious Soundtrack……

  21. Just went on it today for the first time and tried #130. IT DIDNT WORK D= Had to sit in silence lol

So yeah, be careful using these cos I doubt mine was the only one that has been moved/removed

  22. i am going today and i have exspress passes so if there are any numbers you want to be tried out give me em in the next 10-20 mins

  23. Any of the numbers close to ones already found would be good to try. Unfortuntely, you can’t use the Express pass at Rip Ride Rockit.

  24. If anyone knows of any Guns n Roses song on there let me know! Would love to listen to Sweet Child while riding 🙂

  25. I just went on, and I guess I had fat finger syndrome, I tried pressing the logo, but got hard rock instead, so I was stuck with limp bizkit again. I may try again later.

  26. Does anyone know what the AC/DC track is? I’ve heard that there is one, but I don’t know the number.

  27. I put in 305 to see what “Blue Skies” remix Brad was talking about, but it wasn’t Blue Skies at all. It was “Brothers gonna work it out” by Public Enemy.

  28. I found this out one day on accident. I think it makes the ride more fun and mysterious. I will let you know if i make any new finds.

  29. Rip Ride Rocket just got more fun with the knowledge of hidden tracks. I vogued (310) on my last ride, but now I’m excited to find tracks not yet on this list and post. I guess I’ll have to ride 998 more times to ride and play all the tracks. Expect more posts from me, and tweet my your favorite plays 🙂 @thejustins86

  30. Rock N Roll Jewelry would like your help in finding the complete song list. If you discover a song that’s not listed here, stop by our display as you leave the coaster and tell one of our rockin’ musicians.

  31. hey, what do you mean by hidden easter egg? i’m going there tomorrow, so i’m just curious.

  32. just wanted to say thanks! instead of picking some bad default song, i got diary of jane by breaking benjamin! i went last year, and the first time i got on it, i brought my bag with me, bad idea, because me and my brother were first in line, and i had to get out of line. i could of gone on with him, but the loser guy in front of me in single riders wouldnt let me go! but the first time, i picked le disko by shiny toy guns because i was afraid to try it, but the second time, we went single riders, so i tried it, and it worked! was so excited, thanks guys! im going in 2 weeks, ill try to find more!

  33. Me and my cousins boyfriend had the idea to get a group of people together and do nothing but say “ok you two play 001 and 002. You two do 003 and 004.” and so on… ride until you get to 999… might take a while but when it isnt your turn on the ride you can throw up all you want… sounds like a good idea to me

  34. Hey me and my friend have annual passes so we have made it our goal to go through all 999 songs to confirm which are hidden songs and which are dead ends. We have until July 2012 so wish us luck! I’ll report back on the ones with hidden tracks and the ones without as we progress

  35. Someone already mentioned this, but I don’t see it on the list. #125 is “The Great Gig in the Sky” by Pink Floyd. I rode it today and I’m 1,000% sure that’s what it is.

  36. Just got back from Rock the Universe and can confirm the songs for a couple of the added artists for Rock the Universe. The Switchfoot hidden track is “Mess of Me.” The Family Force 5 hidden track is “Dance or Die” and the David Crowder Band hidden track is “Eastern Hymn.” I would really be curious to hear if the RTU hidden tracks stay up after Rock the Universe is over. Someone let me know.

  37. Confirmed that the RTU songs still were working during HHN…but songs 777 and 778 are switched around. 778 is the RED song, and the song is called Faceless. 777 is the David Crowder song.

Glad to see that this is still active, hoping to see more hidden songs.

  38. im going this saturday, for the first time. im thrilled to know that there are hidden songs! I cant wait! I’ll be going on the rockit coaster about a million times to test it out! tell you if i find anything new! wish me luck!!!! 😀

  39. I have an annual pass and I didn’t know this before but, over 70 percent of the people who ride Rip Ride Rockit dont know about the hidden songs. After 3-4 years I suspect that that number will decrease by like fifty percent.

  40. Just went to this years rock the universe. they have some codes printed on the event map, no song titles, just artist names. never got to test them because the wait time was 125 minutes most of the night, but the codes they give are:

    780: Family Force 5
    781: Newsboys
    782: Skillet
    783: For King & Country
    784: Group 1 Crew
    785: Tenth Avenue North
    786: Tobymac

  41. They need more rap on here, i would definitely love riding to A$AP Rocky, Danny Brown, Flatbush ZOMBiES, or anything that hits hard.

  42. #779 House of mirrors by tenth avenue north
#781 Gods not dead by newsboys
    #782 monster by skillet

  43. #774 until the whole world hears by casting crowns
    #775 make your move
#776 the one by brandon heath
#784 freq dat by group 1 crew

  44. I rode the ride the other day and tried song #717. It is in fact not a song choice, I tried it b/c it’s such a gaping hole in the list, the list goes from 716 to 718, but yup…

    …717, not a song.

  45. got my annual pass back!
#785 House of Mirrors by Tenth Avenue North
