May-Hem horror convention returns next month with Halloween Extreme

May-Hem Zombie Walk

Spooky Empire’s annual May-Hem horror convention is returning next month from May 24 through 26, 2013 at The Rosen Centre. This year’s event will feature all the horror from previous years including special guests, the vendor room, tattoo festival and zombie walk, but also a new separate ticketed event entitled Halloween Extreme.

Most of the celebrity guests at May-Hem this year have never appeared at a Spooky Empire event. Some of the guests are Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead and Boondock Saints, C. Thomas Howell from The Outsiders and Red Dawn, Zach Galligan from Gremlins, Betsy Russell from Saw 3 through 6, Pat Carroll, the voice of Ursula in The Little Mermaid, and Ted White, Peter Barton, Lawrence Monoson, and Judie Aronson from Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.

There will also be a cast reunion for the movie The Warriors, consisting of Michael Beck, Deborah Van Valkenburgh, David Harris, Terry Michos, Dorsey Wright, Brian Tyler, Thomas Waites and Roger Hill.

May-Hem is not just about the special guests, there are some memorable events lined up as well. For the second year in a row at May-Hem, Spooky Empire will be hosting their Zombie Walk on Friday, May 24, 2013. It will be hosted by The Deadlite Empire and Mike Christopher from Dawn of the Dead. The walk starts at 4 p.m. and special FX makeup artists will be on hand all day to help. Spooky Empire’s Tattoo Festival will also be in place featuring over 25 of the country’s best artists.

New to this year’s event, three of the biggest names in the industry are coming together to form Halloween Extreme. Spooky Empire, TransWorld and Netherworld are giving the general public a chance to purchase high quality props, effects, and anamatronics, and attend seminars and demos for the the first time ever. While it requires a seperate fee, it gives attendees a rare opportunity to obtain the very same items used by professional attractions and events the world over, allowing everyone to create a truly professional haunt experience. Halloween Extreme offers cash-and-carry and wholesale items for purchase, including animatronics, make up, costumes, masks and decor.

Of course there is the May-Hem vendor room loaded with merchandise, collectibles and artists. And don’t forget the notorious pool parties with live bands.
