The NASCAR Sports Grille restaurant, a long-time staple of Universal Orlando CityWalk, will serve its last meal on Nov. 1, 2014.

The restaurant has been a part of CityWalk for more than 15 years. It was originally known as NASCAR Cafe. It is a partnership between NASCAR and an affiliate of The Cordish Company. The two-story location includes a NASCAR gift shop, an arcade, bar and many NASCAR decorations.

“It has been a terrific run over the past 15 years and we are proud to have been a mainstay attraction in a district that sets the pace for dining and entertainment,” stated Kelby Giles, operating partner of NASCAR Sports Grille. “We have worked hard to be an excellent concept and partner and to help Universal CityWalk establish itself as a premier international dining and entertainment destination and we understand that CityWalk has an ongoing commitment to bring in new experiences. CityWalk is in the midst of significant, exciting growth and we look forward to watching it grow and evolve.”

Universal Orlando stated the closing is “to make room way for an exciting new concept which will soon be announced.” NASCAR Sports Grille will remain open for full lunch and dinner service through Nov. 1.
