Orphan baby manatee nursed at SeaWorld

SeaWorld animal care specialist Devi Wise bottle feeds a days-old orphan manatee at the parks’ Manatee Rescue and Rehabilitation Center. The female calf – just two-feet long and barely tipping the scale at 21 pounds – was rescued from Ormond Beach on Wednesday. She is the third orphan manatee in two months to come under the watchful care of SeaWorld “moms” and “dads.”

  1. Oh, that poor innocent thing! I wonder if her mom got caught in a boat’s propeller. Manatee moms don’t just abandon their offspring. I hope she got to thrive and grow under Sea World’s capable hands.

  2. thats bad ass. wer didi the baby come from? from the wild? poor thing if he/her mother got killed by a boat. nice pic though.

  3. @BJohnson – I know Brad she is cute indeed! and I’m sure that thing she is bottle feeding must be like a spy drone – .
