Ripley’s Believe it or Not offering free admission on Saturday – if the world ends on Friday
Ripley’s Believe It or Not has an unheard of apocalyptic offer – free admission to any of 32 Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditoriums on Saturday, including Orlando’s. But there’s a major catch – the admission is only free if the world ends on Friday.
“If the earth crumbles, burns, implodes, or just goes dark on Friday, at least people will have something to look forward to on Saturday,” said Tim O’Brien, VP of Communications for Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
As an authority on all things weird (but true), Ripley’s researchers have not been able to verify the Mayan claims. Company experts have reviewed the Mayan calendar, Mayan culture and even Maya Angelou – and can’t verify the prophecy as true; the hallmark necessary to become a genuine “believe it or not!”
“We feel pretty good about this deal, but if we’re wrong it’s going to cost us a lot of money,” added O’Brien.
Should the world *not* end on Friday, people are invited to experience all the weird, bizarre and amazing things that Ripley’s has to offer – they’ll just have to purchase a ticket to do so.
(Proof of end of the world required. No purchase necessary. Cannot be combined with other offers.)
This is just a marketing tool…pretty ignorant on Ripley’s part actually…
Indeed very ignorant of Ripley to try to get their name out there…they seem desperate for attention…not much class on Orlando attractions magazine also for posting such a foolish article
It’s all in good fun. No harm came from them poking some fun and getting some publicity.
(Interesting that both of the above comments came from the same IP address.)
Alright if you say so….I got my hopes up for a second…I don’t think free admission for a day would hurt them though..it would certainly get them some real publicity….keep up the good work Matt.
Yeah, Ripley’s is normally so serious and straight-laced – what were they thinking?!
🙂
