SeaWorld Orlando announces new ‘Sesame Street’ expansion to open in 2019

SeaWorld Orlando revealed exciting new details today on a new land themed to “Sesame Street,” set to open in 2019.

Guests will be able to take a walk down Sesame Street for the very first time, and experience all the fun, learning and laughter firsthand.

“We are excited to transport our guests into the colorful and creative world of ‘Sesame Street’ through immersive theming, character interactions and interactive play,” said Jim Dean, president of SeaWorld Orlando. “Sesame Street at SeaWorld Orlando is an amazing addition to our park, providing more unique and memorable experiences for the entire family.”

Some of the new activities coming to the new land will include:

  • An immersive area featuring exciting rides, dry and wet play areas, and interactiveexperiences designed for the entire family.
  • Explore the iconic neighborhood, walk through Abby Cadabby’s garden, stop by Big Bird’s nest, visit Mr. Hooper’s store, sit on the famous 123 stoop and meet your favorite “Sesame Street” characters like Cookie Monster, Elmo and Big Bird.
  • Elmo and his friends, along with parade dancers, will invite guests to join the party on Sesame Street daily during SeaWorld Orlando’s first-ever parade!

“In partnering with Sesame Workshop, we are creating a land for guests to make an authentic connection that can only be found in hugging a furry friend or reading a book with Big Bird,” said Amanda Trauger, experience design manager for SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment.

Construction is already underway, and will be complete in time for a 2019 opening. The new land will be located on the south end of the park, where Happy Harbor currently stands. For more information, visit SeaWorld.com/Orlando.
