World’s tallest drop ride to be added to world’s tallest roller coaster on I-Drive

The skyline around International Drive is going to be changing dramatically over the next several years with the additions of the world’s tallest roller coaster, Orlando Eye, StarFlyer swing ride, and just announced today, a drop tower.

Skyfall is the newest record breaker set to open at the Skyplex attraction on the corner of International Drive and Sand Lake Road in 2017. Mounted on the side of the Skyscraper roller coaster, Skyfall will take riders 450 feet into the air before dropping them back down toward the ground. The current holder of world’s tallest drop tower, Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, stands at 410 feet. You can see that ride in action in the video below from Theme Park Review:

The Skyscraper at Skyplex will be 570 feet tall and will feature more than 10 inversions, making it the world’s tallest roler coaster. There will also be a Skyplex observation deck at the top of the structure, offering views 535 feet from the ground. Take a look at a rendering for the Skyscraper below:
