Nintendo characters

In a few years you may be riding on a Super Mario roller coaster, or helping Link save Zelda from the evil Ganon in dark ride. Yes, many Nintendo fans dreams are coming true, as Universal has partnered with the famous video game company to create major attractions based on Nintendo characters at Universal Orlando and other Universal theme parks.

Nintendo and Universal Parks & Resorts have announced plans to bring the world of Nintendo to life at Universal theme parks – creating spectacular, dedicated experiences based on Nintendo’s wildly popular games, characters and worlds.

The agreement brings two icons of entertainment together and represents a significant partnership for Nintendo as it expands the reach and popularity of its characters and intellectual property.

Now, for the first time, Nintendo’s many stories and characters will be brought to life in entirely new ways – only at Universal theme parks.

The immersive experiences will include major attractions at Universal’s theme parks and will feature Nintendo’s most famous characters and games. More details will be announced in the future, as the Nintendo and Universal creative teams work to create specific concepts.

  1. This is intriguing news, but missing from this release is where would such a section go in their parks. Particularly Orlando since they had to wedge Potter in there (and close a beloved ride). Does this mean the end of Toon Lagoon? The Universal Kids area? Marvel (Disney) Superhero Island? And if the latter what does Disney do? What of the plans for Hollywood? Star Wars, Pixar and Marvel? 2 out of 3? And I would drool over a Zelda ride esp. interactive. One of the best video game series of all time!

  2. Meanwhile, over at Disney, there’s a new coat of paint on “it’s a small world”.

And I thought after Harry Potter Universal couldn’t stomp any harder on Disney, boy was I wrong.

    1. That’s funny! Poor old Disney, missing out again. Wanna go to Universal today? Hey, letsa go!

  3. Mario Carts would be awesome and could incorporate many characters at once! Or individual attractions based on Zelda? Metroid? Donkey Kong? Mario?

Marvel leaving would make good sense, but Spider-Man was updated a few years ago… I don’t think Toon Lagoon has been updated other than yearly maintenance, so could see that go. Or maybe at least part of, if not all of Kid Zone… Especially Animal Actors and surounding area.

Wish we knew WHEN some of this would be happening too.

  4. I could see this replacing marvel area, so retheming of rides there. As no doubt disney keeps upping the cost of the marvel licence
