Universal Orlando will launch a brand-new, national commercial for The Wizarding World of Harry Potter during Super Bowl XLIV on Sunday, Feb. 7.
Set to air during the first half of the game, the ad will feature all new footage. You’ll see children magically transported to Orlando to fly on broomsticks around the Wizarding World. They’ll swoop through the bustling streets of Hogsmeade past the Hogwarts Express, dodge a flying dragon and meet Harry above Hogwarts.
The commercial also begins a new brand campaign, “Be Courageous. Be Outrageous. Be Extraordinary.” The press release from Universal says the campaign will “show viewers that Universal Orlando Resort is the only theme park destination in the world where you can soar above Hogwarts castle with Harry Potter, swing above the streets with Spider-Man and help Shrek save Princess Fiona in Shrek 4-D.”
Does this mean the new Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride will let guests “soar above Hogwarts castle with Harry Potter”? Or will the Dragon Challenge ride feature broomsticks as the ride vehicles? Or neither?
What better way to get pumped up for the day than a roller coaster ride through the city to work. And after a hard day at work, wouldn’t it be great to water slide all the way home? That the premise behind these two ads for Barclaycard in the U.K.
You may have seen the water slide ad, as it was released in 2008. But the roller coaster one was just released. I’ve included a special two-minute version of the water slide ad. You can see some behind the scenes videos on Barclaycard’s Facebook page.
The ads were created by the Bartle Bogle Hegarty ad agency using the same technology that was used to show Spider-Man swinging through the streets in the three Spider-Man movies. They even have a free iPhone app that lets you water slide through a virtual city. A free roller coaster app will be released in May.
If you live in the Orlando area, are a good salesperson and would like to work for a fun magazine, you’re in luck. We’re looking for someone to sell ads for the magazine, Web site and e-mail newsletter.
You must be self motivated, personable and not afraid to make cold calls. We’re not a hard sell, but you must be persistent. You’ll work out of your home, as a freelancer – using your own telephone, computer, etc. We’ll supply the knowledge and printed materials.
The job pays a high commission, but there’s no base salary or benefits. You make what you earn, and the earnings are unlimited. We’d prefer full-time, but part-time may be fine as well. Advertising sales experience is a big plus, but we can train the right person.
