Over the course of its ten years on set, the “Harry Potter” films had over 25,000 costume pieces created for the eight productions. Beginning with over 600 Hogwarts school uniforms, the costumes eventually developed into more extravagant pieces like Hermione’s Yule Ball gown, Professor Slughorn’s lilac pajamas, and Gilderoy Lockhart’s professor’s robes. Universal Studios Hollywood has confirmed that ‘Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter,’ featuring a holiday projection show on Hogwarts Castle like the one announced over a month for Universal Orlando, will be coming to the west coast park this year.
Testing has only recently begun for Universal Studios Hollywood’s ‘Nighttime Lights at Hogwarts Castle’ projection show, which will begin nightly performances on June 23, but we now know that show will switch out with a Christmas themed version in time for the holiday season. The Hogwarts Castle projection shows were inspired by the one-time-only presentation created for the Wizarding World’s grand opening in 2016. (Note that the new castle shows will only feature projections and music, but no fireworks.)
As night falls on Hogsmeade village, the familiar sounds of Harry Potter music will resonate throughout The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Multiple times an evening, colorful projection mapping will illuminate Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with dimensional animations that melodically dance across Hogwarts castle in tandem to a musical arrangement from of the Harry Potter movies.
In addition to the projection show, Hogsmeade village will also feature festive décor uniquely themed to each of the individual storefronts, along with holiday-themed food and beverages including hot Butterbeer.

Magic-loving Muggles who are members of Orlando’s Dr. Phillips Center can now purchase tickets to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone In Concert with the Orlando Philharmonic, coming in February 2017 to the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.
Visitors to Universal Orlando have long had the option of staying off-site in a selected partner hotel using a package that includes perks like early park admission. Now Universal Studios Hollywood is getting in on the act with their own Preferred Hotel program, which includes one hour of early entry into their newly opened Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
