Merida, Disney•Pixar’s first princess from the film “Brave”, was officially crowned as the 11th Disney Princess in a coronation ceremony held in front of Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom today, May 11, 2013.

More than 19,000 women raced in this morning’s Princess Half Marathon at Walt Disney World, making it the world’s largest women’s sporting event. This was the fourth year of the race, and it has grown tremendously. The inaugural run had 8,000 participants.
Disney officially welcomed Rapunzel as the 10th Disney Princess character at a star-studded celebration on Oct. 2, 2011. The ceremony took place at Kensington Palace in London with a royal court including by Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Mulan, Pocahontas, Snow White and Tiana.
