After a little more than two years, tours of the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) are being halted on Feb. 23 to allow for modifications needed while Kennedy Space Center is changing into a multi-user Spaceport and preparing for the Space Launch System.
The Up-Close Vehicle Assembly Building Tour began last November at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB) is where rockets are built before they are moved to a launch pad. Now, space shuttle orbiter Atlantis is in storage in the VAB. Tour guests can see Atlantis before the orbiter is towed…

The Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex introduced a new stop in their Up-Close Tour this week. The new stop is the VAB, or Vehicle Assembly Building, where components of the Space Shuttle were joined together in preparation for launch.
A limited number of guests each day will be able to enter and explore the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), inside the Kennedy Space Center starting on Nov. 1.
