Update on mini golf at Universal CityWalk – Hollywood Drive-In Golf

Giant menancing slugs and other alien creatures are invading Universal CityWalk as part of the theming of a new miniature golf course. Here’s a look at the construction status.

The largest show elements may be this giant slug and gothic old mansion. The slug more or less greets guests arriving from the Universal Orlando parking structures. It’s a fun view to start the day at the parks.

Other creepy-crawly aliens are starting to emerge.

This is the north-most section of the golf course. Adjacent to the valet parking stand and escalator, seen at right. The creepy-crawly seen in the previous photo is near valet parking.

A wider view of this area. The mini golf course will have holes and themes under the parking structure pedestrian bridge.

Uniformed cartoon space creatures are also starting to materialize.

A large multi-arm robot is in action, in the south side of the golf course.

The robot is doing many things at once.

The drive-in movie theater entrance. The golf entrance will be next to the AMC Theaters entrance.

A tall railing has been added to prevent guests from being, well, extraordinary, and walking on the nearby roof.

Looks like Hollywood Drive-In Golf will be great fun when it opens next year.

  1. I’m 99% sure that isn’t a space worm, and that it’s actually a sandworm from Beetlejuice. The house is also from Beetlejuice.
