The Characters in Flight helium balloon ride at Downtown Disney officially opened on April 21, 2009. The balloon, operated by Aerophile, takes up to thirty guests 400 feet in the air (weather permitting) for around five minutes, providing 360-degree views of all of Walt Disney World and the surrounding Orlando area.

Also in attendance were Klay Hall and Sean Lurie, the director and producer (respectively) of the upcoming film, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, as well as Epcot's new vice president, Dan Cockerell.

The Nickelodeon Family Suites Hotel by Holiday Inn in Orlando, FL recently added a $3 million addition of a new 4D theater. This state-of-the-art theater held its grand opening on June 24th, 2008, premiering several 4D films including one featuring SpongeBob SquarePants. In-theater effects include seat vibration, neck & face air, leg ticklers, water mist, seat poke, and multiple scents (including a very accurate pickle smell!).
