Yearly tent sale at Universal Orlando, public welcome

A little-known bit of fun each December is looking for a sign at the Universal cast entrance. The sign says: Tent Sale, Public Welcome. All you can do is drive by each weekend, hoping to spot the sign. When you spot the sign, you immediate turn into cast parking eager to shop for deals. The sale ends today at 6 p.m.

Inside the tent. The sale is intended as a cast member benefit, but the general public (mostly cast member friends and family) may shop as well. Everything is 90 percent off the regular price – including many Wizarding World of Harry Potter items.

First deal that caught my eye this year was this toy. What follows are photos of some of the other interesting deals sold this year.

Near the sale is the Human Resources entrance. This is where every cast member starts their role in the show. A side effect of inviting family and friends to the sale is the public sees where they too can apply for a job at Universal.

In years past, the tent sale was held in an overflow parking lot, and some years the Hard Rock Cafe would have a tent too. This overflow parking was sold a few years ago, and these apartment buildings were built there.
