Adventures by Disney announces special South Africa trip hosted by Imagineer Joe Rohde
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Adventures by Disney has announced a special adult-exclusive Safari to South Africa departure for Nov. 30, 2018.
On this trip, you can join in an exploration of Africa with special hosts Joe Rohde, Portfolio Creative Executive for Walt Disney Imagineering, and Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President of Animals, Science and Environment for Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as they share their knowledge on storytelling, conservation and wildlife.
Throughout this unique trip, Rohde will share his insight on this country through the eyes of an artist. He will lead sketching sessions, with no prior art experience required, at iconic locations in South Africa. Rohde will also share the experiences he had in Africa that inspired him to create Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
As for Penning, a native of South Africa, he will share his expertise on the natural history of South Africa. Guests will learn about the species that live in the areas visited while on the trip, including the elephants, birds and monkeys in Knysna; the birds at Cape Point; and the wildlife found during the game drives at Kapama Private Game Reserve.
