Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong to reprise roles for ‘Jurassic World – The Ride’

Stars of the “Jurassic World” franchise Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, and BD Wong are set to reprise their roles as Owen Grady, Claire Dearing, and Dr. Henry Wu in Universal Studios Hollywood’s upcoming attraction, “Jurassic World – The Ride.”

Set to open this summer, the ride will mark the first time the cast has appeared as their characters outside of the “Jurassic World” films for a theme park attraction. The ride will feature Owen, Claire and Dr. Wu as they shed light on their interactions with the dinosaurs, along with facts about the creatures that first roamed the Earth.

This re-themed attraction will have an original storyline that will take guests on an exciting excursion through the fictional theme park, and bring them face-to-face with the massive Indominus rex and the aquatic Mosasaurus in her natural habitat.

For the first time, guests will be able to see the Mosasaurus in her Aquarium Observatory. She will appear to look over 60 feet long and weigh about 30,000 pounds – all through the art of visual effects, of course.

Universal Creative teamed with up Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) to help bring the Mosasaurus to life through the use of cutting-edge technology and special effects, including the use of motion parallax, a technique that changes the guests’ perspective of the creature as she moves inside the tank.

The creative team also used a series of lighting enhancements to allow the aquarium to change from day to night, along with visual changes to the environment depending on the weather – creating a different experience depending on when guests ride.

When the ride opens this summer, guests will be greeted by a reimagined space inspired by the film franchise. A new entryway, stonework landscaping, and a redesign of the Jurassic World gates, complete with flames, will be the starting point for the attraction’s new look.

Once guests travel through the queue, they will board rafts that will navigate the fictional park filled with dinosaurs that are just an arm’s length away. Riders will encounter all sorts of dinos, like the Stegosaurus and Parasaurolophus, as well as predators like Velociraptors and the Dilophosaurus. When the T-rex begins battling one of the attraction’s new dinosaurs, the rafts will fall down an 84-foot waterfall – the only way to escape.

In addition to the ride, a new interactive “Dino Play” area will combine educational aspects with a fun space for kids to play and excavate giant dinosaur fossils.
