Here are all of the major attractions, theme park-related restaurants, shops, and resorts being built that you may want to plan your vacation around.
As with any construction, the opening dates may change. All of these have been announced or are currently under construction. These are not rumors, but confirmed projects. This list, sorted by opening date, is updated as new attractions, dates, and details are announced.
Soaring: Fantastic Flight
Soaring: Fantastic Flight is a flight motion-simulator attraction, located in the Mediterranean Harbor area, that will take guests on a journey across the famous landscapes of the world, complete with breezes and scents that match the scenes. This version of the ride will feature new scenes and an exclusive experience to the park in Japan.
Gran Destino Tower
This tower will be the new main entrance point for guests visiting Disney’s Coronado Springs. The tower will add 545 new guest rooms, including 50 suites, and feature a two-story lobby. A themed table-service restaurant is also planned.
Inspired by the modern architecture of new NBA arenas, the state-of-the-art space will include interactive games and competitions, immersive experiences, a retail store, and an adjacent restaurant.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Location: Disney’s Hollywood Studios, formerly Streets of America and Lights, Motors, Action!
Opening Date: Aug. 29, 2019 (Walt Disney World)
This new area will invite guests to explore a never-before-seen planet in the Star Wars galaxy, complete with two new attractions. Guests can take the controls in one of three unique and critical roles aboard Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. On Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, guests can join an epic battle between the First Order and the Resistance – including a face-off with Kylo Ren.
Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind
Inspired by the Disney/Pixar film “Inside Out,” guests will step into the workplace of Riley’s emotions – Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger – and hop aboard one of eight Memory Movers for a spin around the shelves filled with recollections.
Universal’s Endless Summer Resort (first phase)
Surfside Inn and Suites will offer nightly rates starting at just $73 for a seven-night stay and $85 per night for a four-night stay in a standard room. The hotel will feature 390 two-bedroom suites that sleep six and start as low as $111 per night for a seven-night stay.
Jurassic World: The Ride
This next-generation thrill attraction will introduce never-before-seen dinosaurs, enhanced storytelling, scenic design, a new color scheme, and state-of-the-art technology.
A limited-time experience, this nighttime spectacular will be set to classic Epcot tunes. The show begins with a spark of imagination that quickly grows into a spectacle of fireworks, music, lighting, lasers, and choreographed special effects kites.
This new gondola system will connect Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot to four nearby resort hotels – Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, and the upcoming Disney’s Riviera Resort.
Disney’s Riviera Resort
Inspired by the European grandeur Walt Disney experienced in his travels along the Mediterranean coastline, this resort will be the 15th Disney Vacation Club property. Reservations are now open.
City Works Eatery & Pour House
This lively eatery and pour house-style restaurant will offer a large draft selection of local, regional and global craft brews with a constantly rotating draft list, complemented by classic American cuisine with chef-driven twists.
Adjacent to Mission: Space, this new restaurant will invite guests to travel high above the earth for an unforgettable dining experience. Operated by Patina Restaurant Group, the menu will feature an internationally-inspired cuisine, with more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer.
Guests will be able to visualize the exciting plans for Epcot when doors open on a new Experience Center. They will discover engaging and interactive exhibits that showcase the relentless innovation, energy and excitement driving the future of the park all throughout this unprecedented period of transformation.
“Beauty and the Beast” sing-along
A special sing-along of the classic Disney film, created by Don Hahn, producer of the animated and live action “Beauty and the Beast” films.
O Canada! update
It has been announced that the “O Canada!” 360-degree show will receive an upgraded film.
Supermodel turned entrepreneur Tyra Banks recently announced the construction of Modelland, a new ticketed attraction set to open in late 2019 at Macerich’s Santa Monica Place. The 21,000 square foot facility will bring a fantasy version of the modeling world to life through state-of-the-art interactive entertainment, creative collaborations, curated retail, dining and special events.
2020 and Beyond
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
The first ever ride-through attraction themed to Mickey Mouse will feature a new original story and theme song as it takes guests on a journey inside the wacky and unpredictable world of Disney Channel’s “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts.
Orlando Slingshot and Orlando Gyro Drop Tower
The Orlando Slingshot and the Orlando Gyro Drop Tower will be the world’s tallest slingshot ride and drop tower, respectively. Once built, the Orlando Slingshot will tower at 300 feet high above Icon Park. Riders will be catapulted 450 feet into the air, nearly 50 stories up. The Orlando Gyro Drop Tower will take riders up above the park’s skyline, with the ride reaching 400 feet in the air.
The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash
This innovative adventure will blend live, dimensional and animated characters with hyper-realistic media as guests zip along a track aboard ride vehicles through bustling New York City streets towards the Pet Adoption event and the ultimate happy ending: forever homes. Along the way, guests will face an array of challenges and meet up with fellow animal pals eager to help guide them toward their destination.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant
Set to be built in Toy Story Land, this new table service restaurant will make guests feel like honorary toys in a Western-themed play set created from a colorful mash-up of fun, oversized toys and cardboard boxes.
