A signature sphere has been installed atop the new Ray Rush slide at SeaWorld Orlando’s Aquatica water park.

A construction video from SeaWorld Orlando’s Aquatica shows that the park’s upcoming attraction Ray Rush has reached new heights ahead of its Spring 2018 debut.

Early Wednesday morning, a colossal 12,000-pound fiberglass sphere was hoisted into place, giving Aquatica park goers a first look at one of the new water slide’s marquee features. Towering 60 feet above the park’s entrance, Ray Rush will send groups of four riders to swirl up and down the sides of the sphere walls as part of the 508-foot slide experience.

Opening this spring, Ray Rush is a family friendly ride that combines three different element in a unique way. First, riders will be launched with water jets designed to propel rafts into the first of several enclosed tube sections. Next, riders will swirl into the giant translucent sphere. Finally, riders will drop into an open-air halfpipe that resembles the shape of a manta ray. Rafts will soar back and forth on the wings of the manta before entering the final enclosed tube section that ends with a splash.

Aquatica, SeaWorld Orlando’s water park, announced the addition of Ray Rush this past October, but has not yet released an exact opening date. Ray Rush will have a height requirement of 42 inches.
