Disney announces Marvel hotel for Disneyland Paris and immersive Star Wars hotel at WDW

At D23 Expo 2017, Disney announced a pair of projects for Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney World that will bring a Marvel-themed hotel and immersive Star Wars hotel experience to life.

First, Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek announced the “reimagination” of the Disney’s Hotel New York into a new Marvel-themed resort.

“We’re going to create a hotel at Disneyland Paris that would make Tony Stark proud,” Bob said. “I’m thrilled to announce that Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel will transport our guests to the action-packed, inspiring world of Super Heroes including Iron Man, The Avengers, and Spider Man among others!”

The current New York-themed hotel at Disneyland Paris will be refurbished in the style of a modern art museum, with displays of costumes and props from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. No exact date was announced for the project’s completion.

Furthermore, Disney also confirmed that their recent guest surveys about an immersive Star Wars hotel will indeed lead to such a property being built at Walt Disney World.

According to Chapek, this revolutionary new vacation experience will be a living adventure that allows guests to immerse themselves in an entirely new form of Disney storytelling.

“It’s unlike anything that exists today.” Bob said. “From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story! You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”

The Star Wars hotel will allow guests to “cosplay” as Star Wars characters for the entirety of their resort stay, including wearing costumes. Every aspect of the hotel will be themed, including virtual “windows” looking out into space for every hotel room. According to information shared by the Unofficial Guide’s Len Testa, there will be a 2 night minimum stay for the new Star Wars hotel, with rates starting around $650 per night for two guests, and additional fees for each additional guest. No exact location or opening date has been announced for the Star Wars hotel.
