Disney Cruise Line debuts new live news show, ‘Disney at Sea with D23’

This past week, guests aboard the Disney Wonder were able to experience a brand-new live event called Disney at Sea with D23.

This 30-minute entertainment news show covers what’s new and what’s coming up next from the many branches of Disney, including theme parks, music, movies, television, and more.

“Our friends at Disney Cruise Line reached out and asked us to develop a show that would take guests on a journey through all the incredible entertainment and experiences coming from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Lucasfilm,” said Michael Vargo, head of D23. “It’s thrilling to share all of the exciting news – and our love for Disney – with our guests on the high seas.”

Held inside the Buena Vista Theater, Disney at Sea with D23 showcased the new “Captain Marvel” trailer, hear about how Disney is celebrating Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday around the world, and see the latest concept art for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Disneyland’s Tropical Hideaway, and Tokyo DisneySea’s upcoming expansion. Plus, they were able to hear about the ways Disney is celebrating the anniversaries of “Hocus Pocus” and Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

This news show will be updated every month with new content, so Disney fans aboard the ship can get the scoop on the latest news. The plan is to hold the show on every cruise, and the presentation is scheduled for virtually every itinerary, and will soon roll out to all ships in the Disney Cruise Line fleet.
