Disney shares first look at new entryway for Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Nearly a month after it was announced that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort would remain closed until 2021, new concept art has been shared for the resort’s updated and enhanced entryway.

Set to debut in time for the resort hotel’s 50th anniversary, the entryway will feature a new porte cochere (covered entrance large enough for vehicles), with a high-pitched, open-truss thatch-style roof. There will also be a façade that features colors complimentary to the Longhouses found throughout the resort. Along the Monorail station, new wooden screens will be decorated with geometric patterns in fun, tropical colors.

Enhancements will also be made to the gardens and fountains that welcome guests into the resort, with additions like dramatic lighting in the form of chandeliers inspired by glass floats, fishing nets, and oversized bamboo elements. New chandeliers will match the existing grand chandelier in the resort lobby.

While this work is being carried out to transform the resort, guests can still access the Great Ceremonial House and its operating dining and retail spaces.

In addition to these renovations, the resort’s guest rooms are also being redone for its reopening in summer 2021. More details are expected to come at a later date.
