Dollywood is celebrating their Smoky Mountain Christmas with the addition of Glacier Ridge.

To celebrate the event’s 11th consecutive Golden Ticket award for Best Theme Park Christmas Event, Dollywood is amping up the cheer and good tidings with the addition of Glacier Ridge.

Guests will be able to experience the Smokies at Christmastime in a whole new way with Glacier Ridge. This new experience will add numerous displays and interactive elements, as well as push the park’s count to over five million twinkling lights. Glacier Ridge will be located in the areas of Dollywood known as Wilderness Pass, Timber Canyon and the upper part of Craftsman’s Valley.

“Christmas is so important to me for so many reasons,” Dolly Parton said. “I’m so thankful that it’s a time when our family comes together to share stories, remember old times, and make new memories we’ll take with us through the year and beyond. There’s a lot of laughin’ and a whole lot of love when we all get together. I want those folk who come to experience Christmas at Dollywood to feel like they’re part of the family, making those memories and sharing those special times.”

As guests journey to Glacier Ridge, they’ll feel as if the Smokies have frozen over, thanks to the icy and cool tones throughout the area, a 50-foot-tall animated Christmas tree. The Plaza at Wilderness Pass will transform into a winter wonderland, with the animated tree as the area’s anchor. The tree will also be synchronized to holiday songs that will have guests wanting to join in on the carols. In addition, all of the LED lights at the Plaza will be synched to create a massive and immersive musical experience.

For guests entering Glacier Ridge from Timber Canyon, the Arctic Passage, a 130-foot-long programmable light tunnel, will transport them through a dazzling path of light and color. Once they emerge from the tunnel, guests will be greeted by polar bears who have made their home at Drop Line. Since the Smokies have frozen to create Glacier Ridge, the polar bears have traveled from the north to spend time with their Smoky Mountain cousins.

Those venturing to Glacier Ridge through Craftsman’s Valley will experience a new light technique that creates a light pattern similar to the aurora borealis. Guests will walk through Dollywood’s version of the northern lights, which will be programmed to music.

In addition to Glacier Ridge, guests visiting Dollywood during Smoky Mountain Christmas can also enjoy other entertainment like Dollywood’s Parade of Many Colors, holiday shows like “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “Christmas in the Smokies.”
