Epcot Experience now open at Walt Disney World Resort
As Epcot continues its grand transformation, guests can now see a glimpse into the park’s future with the opening of Walt Disney Imagineering presents the Epcot Experience, an immersive new exhibit that shows off the changes coming for the park.
The Epcot Experience offers an in-depth look at the park’s transformation, combining high tech elements with fun moments to create an Epcot-inspired experience. Located inside the Odyssey Events Pavilion, the Epcot Experience offers a variety of experiences that celebrate the past, present, and future of the park.
One of these is a 360-degree film presentation, where guests enter a large, round, darkened room surrounded by a seamless floor-to-ceiling screen showing a continuous 12-minute film that celebrates Epcot. This film includes archival footage going back to before the park opened in 1982, as well as showcases new pavilions and park amenities in development:
- The Play! pavilion
- A new version of Spaceship Earth
- New attractions based on popular films
- The park’s upcoming nighttime spectacular, “HarmonioUS”
In the center of the room, guests can see a three-dimensional model of Epcot that changes in time with the film through projection mapping technology.
Another offering inside the exhibit is a group of four themed photo-ops. With these, guests can take photos that look as though they’re standing on top of Spaceship Earth, shrunk to the size of Remy from Disney/Pixar’s “Ratatouille,” and more.
Guests can also see display cases filled with artifacts memorabilia and other items from Epcot’s past, present and future. These items include:
- An Epcot park map and medallion from opening day on Oct. 1, 1982 and a commemorative opening day park ticket
- Epcot pin sets from 1982 and present day
- Models and concept art for future Epcot experiences
There are also attraction posters from throughout the park’s history on display, as well as posters for experiences yet to come. Grab-and-go food and beverages are also available inside the Odyssey, as well as tables and seating.
For guests looking to commemorate the future of Epcot, there is a variety of new merchandise available inside the Odyssey, including:
- Short- and long-sleeve shirts
- Baseball cap
- Hoodie
- Tote bag
- Journal
- Water bottle
- Mickey Mouse ear hat
