Their Grand Opening Event and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony marked the official completion of the park’s $2.2 million park expansion, their largest since they opened in 1949.

Guests can now board one of three, 12-foot-high custom-made, off-road monster vehicles for a 15-minute ride full of wacky Gatorland characters, swampy adventures, singing tour guides, and lots of alligators. Each vehicle is specially branded, and named after iconic real alligators and crocodiles at Gatorland, like Cannibal Jake, Bonecrusher and Swamp Ghost.

Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure’s storyline takes guests on a journey into the world of Gator Gardens, a fictional park that takes over a swamp buggy business from a new Gatorland character named Swampy Sal. The tour guides take guests off-road for an adventure full of twists and turns, as a comedic plot plays out between the vehicle drivers and on-board guides as they search for Swampy Sal.

“This is great entertainment and loads of fun,” said Mark McHugh, president and CEO of Gatorland. “Our new ride is a perfect addition to all our featured adventure activities throughout the park. We showcase beautiful Florida swamps, piney woods, and alligators with a rough, bouncy ride featuring our very own style of country humor.”

Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure departs from the brand new Gator Joe’s Adventure Outpost building, which serves as the home base for all of Gatorland’s add-on experiences like Screamin’ Gator Zip Line, Adventure Hours, Gator Night Shine and more. It is also the second gift shop for the park, selling Stompin’ Gator merchandise, snacks and drinks.

Gator Joe’s is named after Ernest “Gator Joe” Brown, who was hired by Gatorland’s founder Owen Godwin Sr., to work at the park. Brown was known all over Central Florida as Gator Joe because of his expertise and great love for alligators. Gator Joe worked at Gatorland from 1958 until just before he passed away in 2013.

The cost for adults and kids to ride Stompin’ Gator Off-Road Adventure is $10 per person, in addition to their park admission. A minimum height of 36 inches is required to ride. Tickets can be purchased at the park admission gate, or at Gator Joe’s Adventure Outpost.
