California’s Great America’s annual Halloween Haunt begins today.

California’s Great America is joining in on the Halloween season with the return of their annual Halloween Haunt beginning today until Oct. 29. Guests ages 13 and older can come face their fears with spooky mazes and live entertainment.

A new coaster overlay, Demon: Re-ignited!, is bringing fog, lights, music and a blood-red waterfall back to the Demon roller coaster. The event also has two new mazes: Chaos House and Backwoods.

Chaos House uses effects like strobes, mirrors and fog to confuse guests into a sense of panic, and Backwoods leads guests through an abandoned cabin through woods inhabited by werewolves. The three scare zones have also returned with Jester Town, Feary Tales and Underworld Alley.

“Returning the original sights and sounds of Demon will be especially rewarding for long-time Great America fans,” said Raul Rehnborg, California’s Great America Vice President and General Manager. “For the 10th anniversary of Halloween Haunt, our entertainment team is taking fear and fun to a new level at the Bay Area’s premier Halloween event.”

Other mazes this year include Wax Museum Chamber of Horrors, CornStalkers, Toy Factory, Zombie High, Madame Marie’s Massacre Manor and Roadkill Road House.

Magician Ed Alonzo (of “Saved By the Bell”) is bringing his humor to Psycho Circus of Magic and Mayhem during the event. An extravagant opening ceremony will begin the events of the night, and live entertainment offerings Blood Drums, Sideshow and Nytewalkers are all set to return.

Starting on Oct. 13, guests can enjoy the Haunt Boo-fet, located in the Great America Pavilion from 5-7 p.m., with an all-you-can-eat fried chicken meal for $14.49 plus tax when purchased online.

Halloween Haunt is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 p.m. to midnight through Oct. 8, and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from Oct. 13-28. On Sundays, the event is open from 7 p.m. to midnight.
