Holidays In Space blasts off at Kennedy Space Center starting Dec. 16

Kennedy Space Center will launch into a season of cheer with Holidays in Space, a collection of exclusive attractions happening Dec. 16-30, 2022. The event in Cape Canaveral includes a new projection mapping show and decor.

The projection mapping show, entitled “Starflake’s Holiday Voyage,” will visually showcase sights such as the International Space Station and the James Webb Space Telescope, among other space-related items. The show will be six minutes long and projected nightly onto Gateway: The Deep Space Launch Complex. Gateway, which the center calls “the spaceport of the future,” opened last summer.

As visitors stroll the center during Holidays in Space, they may encounter entertainment such as a singing duo or a comedy act roaming about.

Prior to the official Dec. 16 kick-off of Holidays in Space, Kennedy Space Center will debut its holiday decorations, beginning Nov. 25. New for this year, a 50-foot tree with over 61,000 pixels of light joins returning trimmings like the NASA meatball transformed into an ornament bauble.

“Our Holidays in Space celebration gets better and better each year and 2022 is no exception,” remarked Therrin Protze, chief operating officer of Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. “It’s an exciting time for space exploration with NASA’s return to the Moon on the Artemis I mission, and our holiday season here is designed to share our pride and excitement for our newest attraction, Gateway: The Deep Space Launch Complex.”

The festivities of Holidays in Space are included with Visitor Center admission, which start at $75 for adults and $65 for children ages three-11. Kennedy Space Center is closed Dec. 25.
