Fireworks lit up the sky and snow fell onto the crowd as Jodie Sweetin, star of Netflix’s “Fuller House,” helped Santa light the world’s largest Lego Christmas tree at Legoland California Resort.

Before Sweetin pulled the switch for the 16th annual tree lighting ceremony, she was presented with a Lego cupcake ornament as an invitation to return next year for the park’s 20th birthday celebration.

To celebrate the park’s birthday, and the recent announcement of free admission for kids on their birthdays in 2019, Master Model Builders created 20 special Lego cupcake ornaments to represent each year the theme park has been open.

The new ornaments adorn the giant tree that features more than 11,000 LED lights, more than 400 other Lego decorations, and is created from 245,000 green Duplo bricks.

“Thank you to Legoland California Resort for having me here today, it’s an amazing honor to light this incredible Lego tree and get the holiday season started,” said Sweetin. “I look forward to coming back with my kids and enjoying all the festivities for the park’s 20th birthday in 2019.”

At the ceremony, Legoland donated $10,000 on Sweetin’s behalf to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, a nonprofit pediatric academic medical center dedicated to building healthier futures for children.

“Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is honored to receive this donation from Jodie and Legoland California Resort as it helps us continue to provide the best possible care for children,” said Terry Green, associate senior vice president of development in the Foundation at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
