LeakyCon, a sci-fi/fantasy film, television and book convention, will rebrand itself as GeekyCon and return to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando July 30 to Aug. 2, 2015.

Since its inception in 2009, the event has given attendees an opportunity to meet celebrities from their favorite movies and television shows and authors of bestselling young adult books, in addition to attending a wide array of special events, panel discussions, Q&A sessions, workshops, live performances, music concerts and a marketplace with a variety of vendors. The 2014 convention, which was attended by close to 5,000 people, featured a special private event at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.

“GeekyCon will continue in the tradition of LeakyCon and be a celebration of fandom,” said Melissa Anelli, co-executive director of Mischief Management, which operates the event. “GeekyCon brings notable guests and compelling programming together with fans to create a positive and uplifting environment where attendees can enjoy themselves and each other.”

Mischief Management will return LeakyCon to its roots as a smaller, Harry Potter-only event held in different locations around the world. LeakyCon 2015 is being planned for the second half of the year with dates and location to be announced in the coming months.

Stephanie Dornhelm, co-executive director of Mischief Management, added, “Our events are about bringing people together and offering exciting, stimulating and thought-provoking content, and letting attendees interact with the people who create that content.”

GeekyCon was started in 2009 as LeakyCon, a conference for Harry Potter fans and has since grown to include fans of some of the most popular films and television shows such as “Doctor Who,” “Game of Thrones,” “The Hunger Games,” “Supernatural,” “The Hobbit,” and many others. The event also offers fans a literary track that draws some of the biggest authors in the young adult genre, as well as programming with personalities from YouTube and top Web shows.
