Legoland Windsor Resort testing drone delivery service
Legoland Windsor Resort has been working on an innovative new service for guests – drone ice cream delivery.
Tests were run in the park where families could order from a selection of ice creams and have their treats delivered to their hand, across the park via drone.
According to ParkWorld, all guests have to do is place an order by sending a tweet to the Legoland Windsor account, and once the order is placed, the total cost would be messaged back to the customer and processed. Guests will then choose their pickup point from a selection of collection locations, and turn on the flashlight on their cell phone to alert the drone of their location. Once the drone arrives, guests would tap their bank card on the card reader inside the drone’s basket to pay.
While the test is no longer happening, the park is currently reviewing the activity to decide on if it’s something that will be rolled out again in the future. The park believes the test went well and that it was something that they or any of their guests had ever experienced before. So while the future of this offering is unknown, it is possible that it could come back for another test or a complete roll-out in the future.
