Disney Parks Frozen Christmas Celebration

First we gave you a preview of some of the performances for Disney’s annual Christmas Day special, and now we have a look at some of what viewers will see during the parade portions of the broadcast.

The Disney Parks Frozen Christmas Celebration is taped in advance of its airing on Dec. 25, Christmas Day, with the portions here at Walt Disney World filmed Dec. 6-9, 2014. We were there on the 9th to see portions of the parade filmed around Magic Kingdom. Below are some highlights.

The audience for the parade filming began arriving at Magic Kingdom around 6 a.m., providing some great shots down Main Street toward the castle.

Filming for the parade began in Liberty Square with characters from Star Wars.

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow co-hosts the broadcast this year from Walt Disney World. Here he is in a Jedi robe along with Star Wars characters, including the parade debut of Han Solo.

Filming then moved closer to Frontierland, with some audience members asked to board the Liberty Belle to be in the background of the opening for the parade.

Some penguins from Club Penguin make an appearance as the parade filming moves to Main Street.

In between takes, cast member audience host Mark Daniel would come out and keep the audience warmed up. Here he picked several guests out of the crowd dressed in tacky clothing for what he called the first-ever Tacky Parade.

Robin Roberts from “Good Morning America” serves as the host for the Disney Parks Frozen Christmas Celebration. Here she is setting up on the hosting platform in Town Square.

The next section of the parade to be filmed was for Frozen. Here is Kristoff on a horse-drawn sleigh.

Olaf enjoys some fun on the Wandering Oaken float.

Tim Tebow joined some of the ice pickers to film some a segment on the street.

Anna and Elsa were joined by several little princesses on the castle float.

Robin Roberts was then joined by Anna and Elsa for the finale of the parade. Elsa then conjured her icy powers to freeze Main Street all the way down to Cinderella Castle, which you can see when the special airs on ABC.

The last parts of the parade were filmed in the Hub. Several Disney princesses and their princes took part in the parade.

Merida was joined by her mother, Queen Elinor.

A few floats from Festival of Fantasy were featured in the parade, including the fire-breathing Maleficent dragon.

The actual screen-used coach from the upcoming live action Cinderella movie made an appearance in the parade.

Hiro and Baymax from Big Hero 6 were also in attendance for the parade.

The final thing to be filmed was a performance by the season 3 winners of The X Factor, Alex & Sierra. Their stage was set up on Center Street.
