Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway announced for Disneyland park
The first-ever attraction to feature the big cheese himself, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, is coming to Mickey’s Toontown at Disneyland park in 2022!
UPDATE – 04/19/19: A Disneyland representative has confirmed that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will not be replacing Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin, as many online have speculated. The new attraction will be built in what is currently a backstage area and Mickey’s Toontown will be expanded to accommodate it.
This exciting announcement was first teased this morning on Disneyland Resort president Josh D’Amaro’s personal Instagram:
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, which is also opening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in spring 2020, is inspired by Disney Channel’s Emmy Award-winning “Mickey Mouse” cartoon shorts. The art director, composer, and supervising director of the shorts at Disney Television Animation are working on the attraction, which will begin with the premier of a brand-new Mickey cartoon short.
The ride will feature a new story and a new “loveable, singable” attraction theme song as well as a new experience Disney is dubbing “2 1/2 D,” using advanced projections to bring the “flat-not-flat” world of the cartoons to life without the need for 3-D glasses.
You can check out our video of the attraction’s original presentation and reveal during D23 2017 below:
