Movie Review: ‘Spider-Man: Far from Home’ is full of fun and surprises

Spider-Man is the one of the world’s favorite superheroes, and in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”, he travels the world, collaborates with both familiar and brand new faces, and of course fights some super cool villains.

The latest movie in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) picks up just after “Avengers: Endgame”, and establishes how the world is doing post-Thanos. But of course, after helping to save the world and being Blipped (in the MCU being “Snapped” has been revealed as called being “Blipped”) for five years, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) just wants to take a break and go on vacation with his friends and tell MJ (Zendaya) how he feels about her.

Unfortunately while on his trip, he encounters a brand new threat to the world called The Elementals, and a new ally who calls himself Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). So Peter has to jump into action, working alongside Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) and Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders).

The film is a web-slinging great time, whether it be watching Spidey fighting bad guys, Peter trying to balance his normal and super lives, or trying to figure out which direction the plot is going to go in next.

There’s a mid- and end-credit scene. The two are probably the craziest cliffhangers Marvel has ever put out there. One makes you question the future Spider-Man movies (and has an amazing cameo) and the other makes you question the movie you just watched. And with no Marvel Cinematic Universe movies currently officially announced, I’m hoping the Marvel shows coming to Disney+ will help fill the void in the meantime, before the new phase of the MCU really kicks off.

• “Spider-Man: Far From Home” releases in theaters Tuesday, July 2. It’s rated PG-13, runs a little over two hours, and contains a couple of scenes that may be frightening to young children.

In The Parks

Spider-Man can be found at both Universal and Disney parks and resorts around the world.

At Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Japan, guests can swing along with the web-slinger himself in a fight against the sinister six on The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, as well as meet the webhead.

And at the Disneyland Resorts in both California and Paris, guests can meet Spider-Man. Soon, you’ll be able to experience even more attractions featuring him and other Marvel Superheroes when each of those resorts, and Hong Kong Disneyland open their Marvel themed lands in the years to come.
