’20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ presentation Nautilus, more Disneyland memorabilia to be auctioned

Van Eaton Galleries has announced a new pop culture and Disneyland auction, called “The Art of Entertainment,” will take place on May 4, 2019 at 10 a.m. PT in Sherman Oaks, Calif.

One of the most exciting items in the collection is a rare, one-of-a-kind presentation Nautilus used by Walt Disney in 1954 to promote the classic film, “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.”

The Nautilus model can be seen in old television programs with Walt and promotional images from the 1950s, and was constructed by hand from wood. The estimated cost for this unique item is $20,000 – $30,000.

“The Art of Entertainment” auction will also feature hundreds of rare and historic Disneyland items, including original art, props, models, posters, employee handbooks, signs, souvenirs, attractions models, maps and more.

Highlights of these Disneyland items include: 

• Jungle Cruise prop Impala ear display, belonging to the Audio-Animatronic “Impala” from the attraction

• “Adventure Thru Inner Space” automobile prop from the attraction

• “Fantasmic!” crocodile model by Kevin Kidney

• “Big Thunder Mountain” cast member logo ring

• An original “Pirates of the Caribbean” painting created by Imagineer Bruce Bushman during early development of the attraction

• Tom Sawyer Island “North Inlet” wooden sign
