New ropes course, climbing wall and zip line adventure added at Old Town

Old Town, the long-time shopping, dining and attraction location along U.S. 192 in Kissimmee, has pumped up the thrills with a new combined ropes course, rock climbing wall and zip line.

At a reported cost of $2 million dollars, Old Town hopes the Pepsi AMPVenture Experience will bring Old Town to new heights, literally. The ropes course takes climbers up four stories, 40 feet off the ground. The rock climbing wall goes nearly that high and the zip line lets guests soar 600 feet at a maximum height of 45 feet.

The ropes course participants can test their strength, endurance and balance while maneuvering the rope and obstacle course. Each guest can individualize their own experience as they choose their next path among 20 elements of varying challenge.

The ropes course and rock climbing wall are now open. The zip line is expected to be ready this week. For all three, guests must be at least 36-inches-tall to participate with an adult, and at least 48-inches-tall to participate by themselves. Each person must also weigh less than 300 pounds and be wearing secure shoes.

“We still have all the great things that people love about Old Town,” said Don Rousseau,
Old Town sales executive. “But now we have new rides, new attractions, all new things to do at the same great value. If you have been here in a couple of years, or even a couple of months, it’s time to come back and see us because there’s something new in the air at Old Town.”

Old Town visitors can save by purchasing the Ultimate AMPVenture Experience wristband for $39.95 which includes one entry to the zip line, adventure course and rock climbing wall, plus unlimited rides all day on Old Town’s rides. A la carte access to the zip line or adventure course is available for $12 each.

Old Town features 14 rides, including the Wind Storm Roller Coaster, go carts, Super Shot, and the recently added Flying Dutchman, as well as a number of popular carnival rides.

Old Town also has seven restaurants and more than 80 specialty shops. New retailers and restaurants, including Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, are scheduled to open later this year.

Old Town is offering a new weekly event for car lovers: the All American Muscle Car Cruise on Friday nights. The evening features show-quality American-made muscle cars from 1964 to current, including Camaros, Mustangs and much more. Live classic rock music bands perform each Friday evening on the Main Stage.

Old Town’s Saturday Nite Cruise is also revving up with additional classic cars and amenities for car lovers. More than 300 classics, hot rods and antique cars join in a procession through the street at Old Town. Live ’50s and ’60s rock ‘n’ roll music is performed on the Main Stage.

Old Town is located at 5770 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway (Hwy. 192) in Kissimmee.
Operating hours are noon to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and noon to midnight Friday and Saturday.
