Work in Progress: An aerial view of Fantasyland construction at the Magic Kingdom – Fall 2011

We recently took to the skies to bring you this construction update of the new Fantasyland expansion at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. (Click on any of the photos to enlarge them.)

This shows the Beauty and the Beast area. The rock work to the right will become Beast’s Castle, which will house the Be Our Guest Restaurant. The yellow building in the top center is Maurice’s workshop, where you’ll meet Belle. Gaston’s Tavern is the building in the lower right.

This is the building that will house the Little Mermaid ride. The entrance to the ride will be to the left in this photo.

Construction has started on the latest announced area of Fantasyland, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride. To help put the photo in perspective, the blue in the upper left is the Mad Tea Party ride in Fantasyland. Above the photo is The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh ride (not pictured).

This will be where you’ll ride Dumbo The Flying Elephant once it’s moved. The round yellow circle is the base for one of the two carousels. The large silver building will be a “circus tent” where guests will play games while waiting for their turn to ride. Notice they’ve started to paint the “tent” yellow. This area is located by the Tomorrowland Speedway, in the area formerly known as Mickey’s Toontown Fair.

This will be the train station located in the Storybook Circus area of the new Fantasyland. This is where the old Toontown train station stop used to be located.

Here’s an overview of the whole expanded Fantasyland. You can see the current Fantasyland in the top left. The Beauty and the Beast area is at the top of the photo, Little Mermaid is in the middle right, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will be built at the middle left and the bottom of the photo shows the Storybook Circus area.

The expanded area of Fantasyland is scheduled to open in phases, starting next fall, 2012. Click Here to view our past Magic Kingdom stories.
