Rafiki’s Planet Watch to close at Disney’s Animal Kingdom this October

An unexpected closing is coming to Walt Disney World next month, affecting Rafiki’s Planet Watch Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Rafiki’s Planet Watch is closing at DIsney’s Animal Kingdom in one month.

As of Oct. 21, guests will no longer be able to access Rafiki’s Planet Watch at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. There is no word on what will become of this area, or if there will be similar conservation experiences and animal encounters in the future at the park.

Guests who visited Rafiki’s Planet Watch were able to get an in-depth look at animal habitats from around the world, and get an inside look at the care that animals receive at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

This was also the main location for guests to meet Rafiki from “The Lion King.” There is no news on whether this meet-and-greet will be relocated, or to where.

  1. There was nothing to do there anyway. We would just ride the train, round-trip for the heck of it, but there was no reason you couldn’t just walk to it. I feel like it was something just to keep people busy for a while…cause once you waited for the train, got there and realized you’d been punked, you still had to wait for the train again just leave. lol It’s like getting out of the magic Kindgom. haha
