A strange and unusual experience is opening up at The San Francisco Dungeon for a limited time: a real-life, rodent-filled Rat Bar.

Guests can journey deep into the dark where live rats run free and the alcohol flows like water during this limited engagement. The San Francisco Dungeon will host this pop-up bar from Thursday, June 13 through Saturday, June 15.

After arriving, guests will start their experience with Rat Bar’s signature cocktail – the Ama-RAT-o Sour, a citrus mix and a “rat’s tail” as a garnish.

Next, everyone will experience The San Francisco Dungeon, a 60-minute interactive show that showcases the twisted side of the city’s history. Visitors will move through different points in time with actors recreating San Francisco’s darkest moments, including the gold rush, Chinatown gangs, Miss Piggott’s saloon where you’ll get “Shanghaied”, the plague, and then conclude in an Alcatraz prison cell where you might encounter a few unfriendly spirits. There’s even an underground drop ride!

Once the show is over, guests will have 30 minutes to touch and hold the real-life rodents, provided by Ratical Roden Rescue. Once you’ve had your fill of rat cuddles, head upstairs to the attraction’s retail shop where a cash bar is located.

“Let’s be honest – pastries and coffee were nice an all when we hosted the Rat Café but that was a lot of work. We thought, ‘F it. This time, get drunk, see our show, touch rats and get drunk some more,’” said Matthew Clarkson, regional head of marketing for West Coast Midway Attractions North America, part of Merlin Entertainments Group.
