Four new attractions are coming to SeaWorld and Aquatica San Antonio.

SeaWorld San Antonio

SeaWorld San Antonio’s new addition is Turtle Reef, a new habitat that will give guests an up-close look at threatened and endangered sea turtles, as well as learn about the threats they face in the wild.

The highlight of the new habitat will be a 126,000-gallon coral reef-themed environment, with a natural biofiltration system. This environment will feature rescued and non-releasable green sea turtles, as well as hundreds of colorful Caribbean fish.

Located between the Rio Loco river rapids ride and Shamu Station, Turtle Reef will also feature SeaWorld’s second underwater viewing area. Here, guests can watch the turtles from inches away through a floor-to-ceiling, panoramic portal.

“Our guests not only will learn about amazing sea turtles but also how all of us can improve ocean health,” said Chris Havel, senior aquarist at SeaWorld San Antonio. “One big way is to keep plastics out of the aquatic environment. Thus, it’s no coincidence that almost a decade ago SeaWorld started limiting plastics in its parks.”

Two new family rides will open alongside Turtle Reef – Riptide Rescue, where guests will board a boat and set out on their own sea turtle rescue mission on this classic spinner attraction; and Sea Swinger, a thrill ride that takes riders for a swing, going 180-degrees in both directions.

Aquatica San Antonio

Over at Aquatica San Antonio, a new, one-of-a-kind, multi-drop tower slide will debut, called Ihu’s Breakaway Falls. The attraction is named after Aquatica’s colorful gecko, Ihu.

“With the addition of Turtle Reef, Riptide Rescue, Sea Swinger and Ihu’s Breakaway Falls, we’re continuing our commitment of investing in new, innovative experiences year after year,” said Carl Lum, park president of SeaWorld & Aquatica San Antonio. “We’re continuing to add new attractions and experiences for all ages.”
