Silver Dollar City begins testing ‘Time Traveler’ spinning coaster
Silver Dollar City, the award-winning theme park in Branson, Mo., has begun testing what they call the “world’s fastest, steepest and tallest complete-circuit spinning roller coaster” with the spring 2018 opening of Time Traveler.
Time Traveler will break records in a variety of ways:
- Fastest – The coaster will reach a top speed of 50.3 miles per hour
- Tallest – This attraction is custom-designed for its mountainous location, with a tallest point of 100 feet
- Steepest – Time Traveler will feature a 10-story, 90-degree vertical drop straight down, and is custom-engineered to have an out-of-the-station, gravity-driven drop down an Ozarks mountainside
- First and only with a Vertical Loop – The vertical loop reaches a height of 95 feet
- First and only Double Launch – The coaster goes from 0 to 47 miles per hour in 3 seconds, and 30 to 45 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds
- First and only with Three Inversions – Time Traveler features a vertical loop, a dive loop and a zero-gravity roll
With its investment of $26 million, Time Traveler is Silver Dollar City’s biggest attraction to date. For its design, concept and development, the park worked with coaster manufacturer Mack Rides in Waldkirch, Germany. Thanks to them, this coaster combines a variety of coaster elements with Silver Dollar City’s mountainous terrain. The ride track crosses over itself a total of 14 times during the experience.
