Six Flags St. Louis challenges guests to stay in coffin for 30 hours

To celebrate “30 Years of Screams,” Six Flags St. Louis is challenging guests to spend 30 hours inside of a real coffin for a chance to win $300.

UPDATE – 09/27/18: In response to the reported 25,000 people who registered for the Coffin Challenge, Six Flags will roll out this unique competition to all other Six Flags parks.

“No one does Halloween like Six Flags and this year is the biggest and scariest ever,” said Brett Petit, chief marketing officer for Six Flags. “And this year, the 30-hour Coffin Challenge has taken the country by storm… everybody wants in.”

As reported by Blooloop, the Coffin Challenge will run from 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 until 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 14. Six people will sleep inside 2’x7’ “slightly used” coffins. The participants will be required to spend all 30 hours of the challenge inside the coffin, only leaving to take an hourly, six-minute bathroom break.

The foolish mortals taking part in this challenge are allowed to bring a friend along to Fright Fest during its operating hours, but must spend their nights alone – well, alone other than the Fright Fest Freaks that will be lurking about in the park at night. If the guests the coffin before the 30 hours is up, they lose.

For those who complete the 30 hour challenge, they will receive $300, as well as two 2019 Gold Season Passes; a Fright Fest prize package that includes two VIP haunted house passes, and a ticket for two to ride the Freak Train for Freaks Unleashed; and they get to keep their “slightly used” coffin!

Participants must be 18 years old or older and have a photo ID. They must also sign a waiver and be able to completely lay inside the provided coffin.
