In this new land, guests will journey to Batuu, a new planet in the “Star Wars” universe. They will become a part of the story as they interact with the locals, take in galactic food and drinks, browse the unique merchant shops and fly the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.

The action and adventure will unfold throughout the land, thanks to interactions with the Play Disney Parks mobile app. Guests can choose to aid a smuggler, join the Resistance, or pledge their allegiance to the First Order. This unique, interactive element has never been done to this scale in a Disney themed land before.

Welcome to Black Spire Outpost

Batuu is found along the galaxy’s Outer Rim, on the edge of Wild Space – the uncharted region beyond all known star systems in the “Star Wars” universe. The planet is home to Black Spire Outpost, a haven for smugglers, traders, and those who wish to avoid encountering the First Order.

Once guests arrive at the Outpost, they’ll encounter aliens, droids, and other inhabitants of the planet as they search for rare goods, unusual fare, and adventure with familiar faces like Rey, Chewbacca, Hondo Ohnaka, and more. But beware, Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and his Stormtroopers are not far behind.

Two Thrilling Attractions

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will offer two signature attractions for guests to enjoy:

In Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run, guests will enter the cockpit of the famous space freighter in one of three roles as the ship travels through space on a mission for the space pirate Hondo Ohnaka.

Some guests will be pilots, some will be gunners, and some engineers, creating many ways for guests to engage with the attraction – which will respond in real time to the actions they take.

A second attraction, set to open by the end of this year, is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This will be one of the most ambitious attractions ever created by Walt Disney Imagineering, and will place guests right in the center of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance – including a face-off with Kylo Ren. The adventure will take riders aboard a full-size transport shuttle and then to a Star Destroyer.

Engage with the Land Through Play Disney Parks

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is the first land at a Disney park that’s designed to integrate with the Play Disney Parks mobile app. The app, which debuted just last year, offers interactive adventures and experiences that bring the land to life. When used in Black Spire Outpost, guests can transform the app into their own Datapad, which allows them to translate galactic languages, scan crates and containers, hack into signals and more.

Guests can also use the app to interact with droids, blinking door panels, and antenna arrays. Throughout the day, guests can take part in a multiplayer game called “Outpost Control,” where they can support either the Resistance or the First Order.

An Iconic Galactic Score

The new land has its own theme and score, composed by Academy Award-winning composer John Williams. Guests can also hear a lineup of original cantina songs created by songwriters and composers from around the world. All of these only further deepen the immersion that the land has to offer.
